Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

How candidates should reply to the question: “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”

A Tricky question right?

Before answering that question, think about where you are right now. What are your plans? Before projecting yourself in 5 years, are you where you want to be? If yes, what’s the next step? How are you going to get there? And if you are not where you want to be, what are you going to do about it?

So how would you respond to that question, because some employers will ask?

I would say: “I am currently focusing on whatever you are focusing on, learning, growing, etc. hence I have applied for your job opening.”

And then return the question to the company: “Where do you see the company in 5 years? “And see the type of responses they give you. These will shed some light on whether or not you want to be part of their plans.
